As some of you may know I have the highly controversial opinion that after playing every Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy 8 is my favorite Final Fantasy. However no matter what you think of Final Fantasy 8 I don't think anyone would argue that the music is some of Nobuo Uematsu's best work with songs like "Man with the machine gun", "Breezing", "Keep your eyes on me", "liberi fatali", and of course, the main battle theme. However my favorite above any other has to be the theme to Fisherman's Horizon. It matches the atmosphere to the city so well and it's a beautifully conducted piece of music. So oppo what is your favorite video game track?

Porbably this one:
Assuming the piano and orchestral arrangements count, as I'm not a big fan of the MIDI originals for listening outside of the gameplay. If we're also counting third party arrangements, which we shouldn't really, but what the hell, I'd like to mention Stemage's Metroid Metal collection, and Terry's and Geese's themes from Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, if I remember correctly. Or was it Real Bout Special? One of them.

PayDay 2 has a pretty good soundtrack. But the original Halo has an incredible score.

Didn't those games feature licensed music though? I don't know if that counts as Original Soundtracks, though, if I remember correctly, the 2006 theme from Driver Parallel Lines was written for the game.

I loved the Driver: San Francisco soundtrack!

OST's commonly use licensed music. Scores on the other hand...

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I like Metal Gear Solid 4
Wild Arms
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Transistor
So many great soundtracks.

Skyrim's soundtrack is probably my all time favorite.

Well, the abbreviation OST is interchangeable.
Could mean Original Soundtrack or Official Soundtrack, depends on if the music was written (original) for the game or licensed (official), then there's the soundtracks that are part original and part official.
Burnout Paradise is a good example of that. Most of the soundtrack counts as 'official', but there was a selection of Criterion songs, mainly from previous Burnout games, which count as 'original'.

Welp, that's my list right there. I second this so hard.

Freedom Fighters, hands down. It's fun to play Russia or Poland on Civilization V with this playing in the background.

Me too!
The only disappointment was that California Soul was a remix and not the original album version (itself a cover of the true original), like what appears in Grand Theft Auto V.
Glad to see one of Driver:SF's songs is gonna appear in Forza Horizon 2.

Oh hells yeah! Someone else who's played Wild Arms! I loved the shit out of that game!

That makes three of us. I actually have several of the songs burned to a driving disc, along with some from Driver PL.

And from what I've heard so far, it looks like I'll be adding Horizon 2 to the list.
Also, I just remembered Skate 2 as well. Lots of great songs in that one, too.

Halo is a stereotypical choice. However I thought Halo 3 ODST gave fresh life to the halo OSTs.

I'd love to put together a compilation of songs from Burnout 3, Revenge, Dominator, and Paradise, including the Criterion originals.
The thought of such with Driver: San Francisco and Parallel Lines music is awesome.

Yeah. My one problem with Horizon 2 is all of the good songs aren't on one station so I'll have to switch back and forth between them. :P

Game was a hoot and I've kept the soundtrack around for ages.

Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2.
SNES Star Fox and Donkey Kong Country
Diablo - some might say it's not really likeable but it does it's job of scaring the crap out of me.

Chrome keeps crashing when I post too many videos, so I will probably split this up into 2 replies. Anyway, my favorite used to be the Armored Core 2 soundtrack, but that was recently blown out of the water by the Armored Core Verdict Day special edition/DLC soundtrack. Here's a few choice samples:
(videos will be added once I make sure chrome won't crash again)
And there are about 20 other tracks, all of which are this good.

Same case for me with the original Horizon soundtrack. I was flipping between the channels all the time, mainly staying on Horizon Rocks.

That whole game was awesome! Took me about a week to get through it completely, including unlockables and ensuring getting the good ending.

The Metroid Prime games, hands down. All the ambient music was fantastic, and the boss themes were even better.

The lack of Halo on this list disappoints me. When I first heard those tribal drums kick in my little fifteen year old brain pretty much exploded. That was the first game I played where there was a full orchestral score instead of just electronic tunes or licensed music. It made the game feel big, it made it feel special. It was like being able to immerse yourself in a major Hollywood production, instead of just watching one. And the music itself is absolutely beautiful. And with every subsequent game they've been able to step it up and make the experience even better, from emphasizing the heart-pounding action to hitting you right in the feels.
Seriously, when Chief finds Cortana in Halo 3 and "Keep What You Steal" plays... all the feels.

alot of good stuff here, I also added "video game music" to Pandora and more good stuff there for background noise.
Thanks for this post.
